Sabudana Vada or Sago Vada Recipe

Sabudana Vada is another deep fried snack from Maharashtra. Sabudana vada is a nutritional snack served usually during religious festival, fast/upvas especially in Navratri Vrats. Sabudana vadas are crunchy and can also be served as tea time snack on a rainy day.

Ingredients :

• 1 cup  Sago (sabudana)
• 1 cup Potatoes (boiled and mashed)
• 1 tsp  grated Ginger (adrak)
• 1 to 2 Green chillies (finely chopped)
• 1/2 tbsp Lemon juice
• 2 tbsp chopped coriander (dhania)
• Salt to taste

Method :

  • Soak sago for 1 hour in a bowl. Immerse sago just with little amount of water so that its not soaked too much. In two hours sago is softened and soaked.
  • Drain sabudana mix along with all the other ingredients and knead lightly to form a soft dough.
  • Divide the mixture into 12 equal portions. Shape each portion into a round and flatten slightly.
  • Deep-fry the vadas in hot oil until they are golden brown in colour and drain on absorbent paper.
  • Serve hot with green chutney.
