Aloo Tuk –  A Sindhi dish in which potatoes are deep fried and coated with masalas. It is quick and easy to prepare dish. It can be served as side dish or snack. My son is very fond of potatoes and when I cooked aloo tuk for him, he loved so much that he asked for more. Make aloo tuk for your loved ones and enjoy the monsoon season with aloo tuk and hot cup of tea.

Ingredients :

  • 2 1/2 cup baby potatoes
  • 1 tsp dry mango powder (amchur)
  • 1/2 tsp chaat masala
  • 3/4 tsp chili powder
  • salt to taste

Method :

  • Wash the baby potatoes and parboil them in enough salted water. Drain, peel and keep aside.
  • Heat the oil in a deep non-stick pan on a medium flame and deep-fry the potatoes till they turn crisp and light brown in colour. Drain on an absorbent paper and allow them to cool for a while.
  • Press each deep-fried potato between the palms of your hands to flatten them and deep-fry again in the same hot oil on a medium flame till they turn golden brown in colour from all the sides. Drain on an absorbent paper.
  • Transfer them into a deep bowl, add the masala powder and toss well. Serve immediately.
