Paneer Makhani Recipe

Paneer Makhani is yet another north Indian dish cooked in rich and delicious gravy made from tomato, butter and cream. It can be served with Indian bread or jeera rice.

Ingredients :

  • 200 gms Cottage cheese (Paneer)
  • 4 Green Cardamom
  • 4 Cloves
  • 1 tsp Cumin seeds
  • 2 medium Onion
  • 2 tsp Ginger Garlic paste
  • 2 Green Chillies (Finely chopped)
  • 3 cup Tomato puree
  • 1/2 tsp Turmeric powder
  • 1 Kashmiri Red Chilli powder
  • 1 tsp kasoori Methi powder
  • 2 tbsp Honey
  • 1/2 cup Full Cream Milk
  • 1/2 cup Cream¬†
  • Salt to taste
  • 4 tbsp Oil
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 3 tbsp fresh Coriander ( finely chopped)

Method :

  • Cut the paneer in the shape of triangle and sprinkle some salt, kashmiri red chilli powder on paneer. Set aside for 5 minutes.
  • Grind the onions into smooth paste.
  • Heat 2 tbsp oil in a grill pan, place the paneer slices on it. Grill the paneer from both sides till they are golden.
  • Heat the remaining oil and butter together in another pan.
  • Add green chillies, cardamom, cloves, cumin seeds and cook till the oil becomes fragrant.
  • Add onion paste, ginger garlic paste and saute till it becomes golden brown.
  • Now add tomato puree, turmeric powder, red chilli powder, salt to taste and cook till the oil separates.¬†
  • Add garam masala, kasoori methi, honey and mix well.
  • Add 1/2 cup of water, cream, milk and cook for 2 minutes.
  • Add paneer and cook for a while. Garnish with fresh coriander leaves.
  • Serve hot with chapattis or naan.
