Ingredients :

  • 250 gm cottage cheese (paneer) cut into cubes
  • 1 bay leaf (tejpatta)
  • 1 inch cinnamon stick
  • 2 green cardamom
  • 1/2 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 5-6 garlic clove,chopped
  • 8-9 cashewnuts
  • 3 large tomatoes
  • 2 dry red kashmiri chili
  • 1/2 tsp kasuri methi
  • 1 tsp red chili powder
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • salt to taste
  • 3 tbsp butter
  • 3 tbsp cream
  • 1 cup water

Method :

  • Heat 2 tbsp butter in a pan over medium flame. Add bay leaf, cinnamon, green cardamom and cumin seeds. Saute for few seconds. Add chopped onion, garlic and cashewnuts.
  • Saute until onion turns translucent.
  • Add chopped tomato, dry kashmiri red chili and salt.
  • Saute for 4-5 minutes. Add kasuri methi and little water.
  • Cook till tomatoes turn soft.
  • Turn off the flame. Let the mixture cool and grind with the help of hand blender or mixer to make smooth paste. While grinding add little bit of water to it.
  • Heat 1 tbsp of butter over medium flame. Add red chilli and 1 chopped garlic. Saute and mix well.
  • Add the prepared smooth paste. Stir continuously and cook until butter separates from the masala.
  • Add 1 cup water and sugar and mix well.
  • Cover the gravy with a lid and stir occasionally .
  • Add paneer cubes, cream and mix well. Cook for another few minutes.
  • Turn off the flame. Check the taste and add salt or sugar or chili powder as required.
  • Garnish paneer makhani with cream and serve with naan, chapati. Garnish with
