Palak Paneer Recipe

Palak paneer is a north Indian recipe consisting of spinach and paneer cooked in a thick spinach based gravy.  Its rich in protein, iron, calcium.

Ingredients :

  • 200 gms Cottage Cheese (paneer)
  • 1 bunch Spinach (palak)
  • 1 Onion (Finely chopped)
  • 2 tbsp Ginger Garlic paste
  • 1 cup Tomato puree
  • 2 green Chillies
  • 1/4 tsp Red Chilli powder
  • 1/2 tsp Turmeric powder
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 tbsp Oil
  • 2 tbsp Cream

Method :

  • Wash the spinach thoroughly. Blanch the spinach in boiling water for 2-3 minutes.
  • Drain, refresh with cold water and keep aside to cool for sometime.
  • Grind spinach into smooth puree along with green chillies.
  • Heat oil in a pan, add onion and saute till they are translucent.
  • Add ginger garlic paste and cook till the raw aroma disappear.
  • Add tomato puree, turmeric powder, red chilli powder, salt to taste and cook till the oil separates.
  • Add the spinach puree and stir. Add water if required. 
  • Add cream and mix well.
  • Add paneer, mix gently and cook for 2 minutes on low flame.
  • Serve hot.
