Matar Paneer Recipe

Matar Paneer is a north Indian dish made of paneer and green peas into a delicious gravy. This recipe is prepared in almost every house whenever the guest comes in.  Here I am sharing the mouth watering recipe rich in protein and fibre.


Serving : 4      Cooking Time : 20-25 minutes

Ingredients :

• 300 gms Cottage Cheese
• 200 gms Matar (Green peas)
• 2 medium Onion
• 1 cup Tomato puree
• 2 tsp Ginger Garlic paste
• 1 tsp Cumin seeds
• 1/2 tsp Turmeric powder
• 1/2 tsp Red chilli powder
• 1 tsp Coriander powder
• Salt to taste
• 1/2 cup fresh Cream
• 2 cup water
• 2 tbsp oil
• Chopped Coriander for garnishing

Method :

  • Cut the paneer into cubes.
  • Grind the onions to a smooth paste.
  • Heat oil in a pan and add cumin seeds.
  • When the seeds crackle add onion paste, ginger garlic paste and cook till golden brown.
  • Add tomato puree and all the spices except salt.
  • Cook the masala till oil separates. Add green peas and mix well.
  • Add 2 cups of water, cover the pan with lid and cook for 5 minutes on low flame or till the peas are done.
  • Now add paneer cubes, fresh cream, salt to taste and mix well.
  • If the gravy dries while cooking add some water and cook for another 2 minutes.
  • Garnish matar paneer with chopped coriander leaves and serve hot with chapattis or rice.
