Karela Sabzi Recipe

Ingredients :

  • 8-10 Karela
  • 2 Onion (finely sliced)
  • 1/2 tsp Cumin seeds
  • 1/2 tsp Turmeric powder
  • 1/2 tsp Red Chilli powder
  • 1 tsp Coriander powder
  • 3/4 tsp Amchur powder
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 tbsp oil + for frying

Method :

  • Rinse and wipe the karela’s with kitchen towel. Cut them into 2 inch pieces.
  • Heat oil in a pan, add karela and deep fry them till they are soft or changes colour.
  • Drain the excess oil by using ladle to take out the karela from the oil.
  • Heat 2 tbsp oil in different pan, add cumin seeds.
  • When the seeds starts crackle add onion and cook till they are translucent.
  • Now add the fried karela, turmeric powder, red chilli powder, dry mango (amchur) powder, coriander powder, salt to taste and mix well so that all the spices uniformly coat the karela.
  • Cook for 4-5 minutes on low flame and serve hot with chapattis.
