Bathua Raita is very commonly prepared dish in Northern India. It is very healthy and nutritious. It goes well along with bajre ki roti and makhan (butter).

Ingredients :

  • 1/2 bunch Bathua
  • 2 cups Dahi (Curd)
  • 1/4 tsp Red Chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp Roasted Cumin powder
  • 2-3 Garlic cloves (mashed to a paste )
  • Salt to taste

Method :

  • Clean and wash the bathua thoroughly. Put the bathua along with half cup water in a pan and bring it to a boil. It will boil in 7 to 8 minutes. Cool the bathua and drain excess water by pressing bathua into your palms.
  • With the help of grinding stone blend bathua to a smooth paste.
  • Beat curd, add grinded bathua, salt to taste, red chili powder, roasted cumin powder, garlic pasteĀ and mix well so that no lumps are formed.
  • Check the consistency if the raita is too thick you can add little bit of water to get the proper consistency that you want.
  • Bathua Raita is ready to be served as a side dish.
