Fruit Cake Recipe | How to make fruit cake


Fruit cake is cake made with chopped candied fruit and/or dried fruits, nuts and spices. Fruit cakes are typically served in celebration of Christmas or weddings.

Ingredients :

  • 200 gm refined flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 150 ml milk
  • 1 tsp cinnamon powder
  • 340 gm mixed dry fruit
  • 50 gm tutti frutti
  • 115 gm powdered sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 115 gm butter
  • 1 pinch nutmeg powder or grated

Method :

  • Sift the dry ingredients that is refined flour, baking soda, baking powder, cinnamon powder and nutmeg powder to remove any lumps in the flour and distribute the raising agents uniformly in the mixture. Keep aside.
  • Place the tutti frutti, dry fruit in a bowl. Add a tbsp of refined flour to it and mix well. Make sure refined flour coats them well and keep aside. ( We do this procedure to avoid settling of tutti frutti and dry fruit at the bottom of the cake.)
  • Cream the butter and sugar until light and fluffy with a hand blender. Now add egg one by one and beat.
  • Add the flour mixture to the cream, butter and egg mixture until a thick batter is formed.
  • Measure 1/2 cup of milk. Use the luke warm milk and add to the batter and mix well to combine. Make sure to avoid lumps in the mixture.
  • Now fold the dry fruit and tutti frutti to the batter.
  • Pour the mixture in the prepared grease pan and bake for 35-40 minutes or till a toothpick inserted in the middle comes clean.
  • Let it cool in the pan for 5 minutes. Then loose the sides of the pan using knife and then remove it ¬†on the wire rack.
  • Fruit cake is ready to be consumed on it own.
