Onion Chutney

Chutney belongs to South Asian (especially Indian) cuisine and is a mixture of different spices, vegetables or fruits. Chutney’s may be either wet or dry. In my home you will always find one type of chutney served with the main meal everyday, the reason being my mother-in-law and my husband love it.

 Onion Chutney

Ingredients :

  • 15-20 dried Red Chillies
  • 1 cup Onion (Finely chopped)
  • 25 gms Tamarind pulp  (Imli)
  • 25 gms Jaggery (Gur)
  • 10-12 Garlic cloves
  • 2-3 tbsp water
  • Salt to taste

Method :

  • Heat tava and roast red chillies till the aroma comes.
  • Cut and remove the seeds from chillies.
  • Grind red chillies, onion, garlic, tamarind pulp, jaggery, salt to taste using 2-3 tbsp water.
  • Serve this chutney with dosa or any snack you water.

Tip : Store in refrigerator and you can use it for 10-15 days.
