
There are many ways to prepare pasta and one of them is to cook pasta in white sauce. So today we are cooking macaroni ( a type of pasta) in white sauce. To make it healthy you can add veggies like carrot, broccoli, sweet corns, basil etc.
I have added only sweet corns to it as my son do not love veggies in pasta..that is why i usually cook penne(pasta) in pumpkin sauce for him.
Ingredients :
- 1 cup macaroni
- 1 and 1/2 cup milk
- 1 tbsp maida (all purpose flour)
- 1 small carrot (finely chopped)
- 2 tbsp capsicum (finely chopped)
- 1/4 cup sweet corns (boiled)
- 2 tbsp grated cheese
- 1 tbsp butter
- 1/4 tsp pepper powder
- 1/4 tsp oregano
- salt to taste
Method :
- Cook macaroni in enough water with a tsp of olive oil and salt. Drain and keep aside
- In a pan heat a tsp of oil and saute the veggies for 2 minutes and keep aside.
- In another pan add butter, when it starts to melt add maida to it. Whisk it well. Now add milk and keep stirring. Cook on a low flame.
- Keep stirring to avoid lumps and cook till the mixture becomes slightly thick and creamy.
- Add salt to taste, oregano, pepper powder and mix well.
- Now add the sauted veggies if you are using and mix well.
- Add cheese, then cooked macaroni and mix well. Switch off the flame.
- Your macaroni in white sauce is ready to be served.
